Farmer Spotlight: Matchbox Garden & Seed Company
Hanna Jacobs began farming in 2006 in an urban backyard garden to provide safe food for her family and community, but her passion for cooking quickly transformed into farming vegetables. Matchbox Garden & Seed Company now operates on a quaint 2 acres, but produces over 120 varieties of open-pollinated, heirloom and rare vegetables, herbs, flowers, seed and seedlings! Hanna is well on her way to realizing her dream of a whole, bio diverse farm.
Hanna also writes a wonderful blog chalked full of planting, harvesting, natural pest control and seed saving tips interspersed with big, beautiful pictures of the farm and its many crops. Check out her blog here.
Fun fact: Before becoming a full time farmer, Hanna trained at Le Cordon Blue in both culinary and patisserie arts!
