Farmer Spotlight: Rasa Creek Farm
Rasa Creek Farm owners Jason, Jim and Lalitha grow 35 varieties of organic seed garlic (including Russian Red Music, Yugoslavian Chesnok Red, German Red Rose, and Italian Softneck) on 126 acres that sits 2000 feet above sea level! This height provides them with a longer winter than the rest of the Okanagan, but the garlic doesn’t mind one bit. It’s actually the perfect weather for their gourmet hardneck garlic production.
Whether you just love to eat garlic, want to try growing garlic or are a bonafide garlic connoisseur, Rasa Creek Farms’ website has a wealth of educational information including resources on how to grow garlic, the comeback of garlic in Canada and even access to back issues of The Garlic News, Canada’s leading newsletter for all things garlic!
Fun fact: Rasa (pronounced Rah’sa) means juice or divine nectar.
