Located in Falkland BC, Arenbrook Acres is a recently established farmstead in the Cedar Hill area on Culling Rd. The property's main products are pastured chicken, turkey, gamehen, and lamb for sale at farm-gate, with the goal of promoting sustainable living and BC agri-tourism.

More and more consumers are looking for locally-produced, humanely-raised and slaughtered, meats because they attach personal ethics to their purchasing power and believe there are health benefits for themselves and their families. Small local abattoirs and farms subject the animals to a minimum of stress as compared with conventional pre-slaughter raising and handling that often includes confined living, stressful loading, long transport, mixing and crowding, and rough handling by humans unfamiliar to them. Arenbrook Acres serves the needs of the producer which translates into increased consumer access to high quality meat products in the local area, and offers them the opportunity to put their ethical beliefs into practice.

The BC Association of Abattoirs Access to Markets Report for 2013 indicated a clear increase in consumer concern for purchasing local, safe, and ethically raised BC meat products - and that is what we hope to offer. By focusing on live animal health and happiness, Arenbrook Acres aims to promote sustainable growth in the BC meat industry and provide consumers a viable product that supports sustainability in the growing market of local, BC food.

Where you can find our products

Poultry batches are conducted in batches of 200 chickens and 150 turkeys twice per year, once in early spring around Easter and once in early-winter before Christmas. The birds are guaranteed 1+ square foot of run-space per adult bird, ensuring adequate room to roam their living space and exercise naturally for a lean lifestyle that maximizes flock health and happiness. Broilers are grown 8 weeks and turkeys 14 weeks before processing, which prevents toughness in the meat and artificial weight gain at the end of their finishing period that can lead to excess fats in the end product.

Arenbrook chickens dress out at approximately 6-8 lbs and turkeys at 8-13 lbs, and all are processed on-site at the provincially inspected Arenbrook Abattoir.

Call Peggy Thompson at 250-379-2007 to place an order for the upcoming batch. You will be contacted one week prior to slaughter to confirm your interest, and be told when to arrive to pick up and pay for your product. Cost is $4.99 per lb for broiler chickens and $4.75 per lb for turkey.
